Scritchy Scratch- Vinyl's younger sister and fellow music lover. Though a talented DJ she falls well short of her brother's mixing abilities. Her true area of expertice actually lies in her in-mix vocal additions. Able to instinctively supplement mixes with words and sounds from her own vocal chords, the simple addition of a microphone to her turntable has allowed her to gain a following that has begun to rival her sisters. Will these siblings face off for the ultimate rivalry in a business where fame and fortune can turn to starving artist overnight? Or will they form an alliance and together build a musical empire to rival all others? Find out Next Week's edition of MLP:FIM. XD
So it wasn't Vinyl Scratch who we thought had red eyes. It was just her sister trying to stir up controversy and get herself discovered. Sly move there, but that could cost you in the long run XD lol ... love the piece you've done here ... keep up the good work XD
Well it doesn't really matter if you include "Moderate", because the eye is multiple different shades at any given time with the way they are drawn. Nobody draws Rainbow Dash with blue eyes, Twilight with green eyes, Pinkie with red eyes, Rarity with black eyes, Fluttershy with yellow eyes or Applejack with pink eyes, now do they? Once it's canon, it should stay that way. Nobody unanimously said they were red in the first place. Plus red looks hideous on Vinyl.
On that mind set no one should ever draw Derpy again - why are you so set on this inside the box thinking that if it's not canon it doens't exist. Besides they have alread show the ponies can have different color eyes so it still works with canon thinking anyway.
Well if you draw a pony with different colored eyes, it's no longer that pony. Vinyl with red eyes? Random OC. In the show, if something isn't how it's supposed to be (for this subject - eye color), it's a programming error, and doesn't happen as often as Vinyl being given red eyes in the fandom. As for the "inside the box thinking", it's a canon pony, not a fanon pony.
If you draw a character that LOOKS like Vinyl, but doesn't have /moderate/ cerise eyes, it isn't Vinyl. You shouldn't name her as such, design her as such, and if you can't come to terms with her eyes being /moderate/ cerise, leave her glasses on. That was canon first.
I disagree on the OC thing. Every artist has their style. You could say color scheme is a part of that. Of course there is canon correct and there is incorrect, but I think that Vinyl Scratch is still Vinyl Scratch even if she has red eyes. I mean, a big part of fan made content goes against what is considered canon but I think it is still a part of the show in a way. The makers of the show see the interest we have in certain characters (such as Ditzy Doo or Derpy) and act on it. Other character that would be otherwise obscure are given more meaningful roles such as Bon Bon and Lyra. Maybe some of them weren't affected by the fandom, who really knows. And if everyone drew ponies exactly the way they are in the show, then there would just not be any point in drawing them really. Even poses would have to be considered in order not to go against what is canon. Behavior and so forth. It would be pretty hard not to break a rule. Think of it like Vinyl Scratch with a twist, or character B with a twist.
Also, DJ P0N-3 is a fandom name too, if you wanna be technical about it. But most DJs have a DJ name and their actual name. They acknowledged "DJ P0N-3" in the Equestrian girls song, because it was just that, a song, being DJ'd by the one and only DJ P0N-3.
Really - DJPON3 (also a fandom name) - now goes by Vinyl Scratch when did that happen - so by this you're saying that Hasbro gets to pick and choose everything out there as fandom or canon. Secondly don't every read any fanfics, watch a a redubbed episode, or go outside you might find something outside the box of canon. The point is someone went an spent their time making a nice piece of art work and the first thing you decided to do is criticized it without them asking for a critique - heck that's easy to do to anyone's artwork at a glance you can see the cutie mark is reverse to canon, are you going to mention that as well?
